Term 2 - Week 7

Samoan Language Week

We looked at different patterns from around the Pacific and what each pattern symbolises. We all coloured in 4 patterns and then put them together to make a collaborative art piece.

After that we learnt about symmetry and rotation which led the students to making their own Samoan 'starfish' pattern. First they had to make a rectangle piece of paper into a square. Then they folded it in half and then half again. Next they folded that piece on the diagonal and cut a crescent shape around the edge of the paper. After they unfolded it to reveal a 'starfish' shape. Lastly we added colourful cellophane to fill in the gaps.

Here's a brief news report about what we got up to for Samoan Language Week. Well done to these three enthusiastic presenters for showing confidence and pride in the Samoan language and culture.

We are definitely getting better at moving our body, moving to the beat and synchronizing our amazing moves.
